Questions

Experience letter format — questions

What is an experience letter?

A letter from the employer confirming that a person worked there, with their designation and dates of service, usually with a line about their conduct. New employers and visa or loan applications often ask for it.

Is an experience letter the same as a relieving letter?

Not quite. The relieving letter confirms the resignation was accepted and the employee was relieved of their duties on the last working day. The experience letter certifies the period and role of employment. Many companies issue both, or combine them.

When should an experience letter be issued?

On or after the last working day, usually along with the full and final settlement.

Can I use this format for free?

Yes. Edit the details, copy the text onto your company letterhead or print it as a PDF. There is no sign-up.
